Abstract

Value engineering is used to produce alternatives or ideas that produce better/lower costs than previously expected given functional limitations and work quality.

Looking at the current economic conditions, in ongoing construction work that requires a fairly large capital allocation, it is necessary to reconsider whether the design used is appropriate or not optimal. This can be done by examining the project design thereby saving money by identifying and reducing unnecessary costs without compromising the quality, reliability and functionality of the project itself.
